I provide the voice-over service either from my home studio or from London studios. I can perform in Italian with a neutral accent, in English with a soft Italian accent and also in Russian. My voice is warm and friendly with a natural smile. I have experience mainly in narration for corporate training and language courses. I have a great passion for character work and can play a variety of characters, e.g. for videogames. Listen to my tracks at:
My main fields of expertise are: IT (technical and marketing texts); chemistry; astronomy; fashion/textiles; machinery; industrial processes and applied sciences (mechanics, hydraulics, industrial chemistry…). It is good practice to have each translation reviewed by a second professional. I always offer my customers a package comprising translation+review (the latter can be omitted upon request).
If required (e.g. for legal documents) I can certify my translation using the ITI’s seals, which confirm my membership of the Institute. Certification attracts an additional charge
For review (also called editing) I check the accuracy of the translation, comparing the source and target texts. I ensure that the meanings included in the source have not been omitted or misinterpreted in the target text; I also check that the author of the translation (another translator or the customer) has used the correct terminology.
Often confused with review, tthis is usually done without seeing the source text. The purpose is to correct any spelling, punctuation or grammar errors. If necessary I can make the text more fluent, captivating, elegant or formal according to its intended audience. If the proofreading is done in the same format as the original file, by comparing source and target I can also check that formatting and layout are correct. I normally charge by the hour for this task.
Software and website localisation
As well as ensuring the consistent translation of the user interface, online help and software manual or web pages, the localisation process adapts the translated content to the target country, so that it feels “local”. This includes, for example, the conversion of measurement units, currencies, methods of payment, and formatting of dates and addresses. Even the content should be reviewed and adapted for the target culture as necessary.
Italian and Russian lessons
In order to teach a language it is not necessary to be a native speaker. I studied Russian as a second foreign language at university, and I can therefore apply the same method to anyone who would like to approach this fascinating language.
Project management of jobs in other fields of expertise and language combinations
Relying on my network of trusted colleagues, I am able to build a team and manage jobs in almost any language pair and field of expertise.
